Ambient Clinical Analytics, the leader in point-of-care solutions, announced today that they have entered into a strategic partnerships with Iatric® Systems, Inc., a healthcare technology company dedicated to helping healthcare organizations enhance their IT investments. Ambient’s AWARE™ and Sepsis DART™ software are FDA Class II cleared solutions for data visualization to reduce errors and “click fatigue” and were built by clinicians for clinicians. Ambient Clinical Analytics’ solutions and Iatric Systems integration expertise enables Ambient’s solutions to more quickly and easily help hospitals and health systems running MEDITECH EHRs. These solutions embody situational and operational intelligence to significantly reduce errors and omissions, improve patient care and the patient experience, reduce physician and nurse burn-out, and reduce the cost of care.

AWARE™ and Sepsis DART™ solutions use detection and support rules to indicate if clinical issues are present or developing and maintain a complete view of a patient’s condition to help prevent medical errors by delivering critical information, updates, and notifications. The result is enhanced clinical workflows for nurses and physicians, faster response times, and improved patient outcomes and experiences. Iatric Systems integration solution is vendor-neutral, enabling interoperability between companies such as Ambient Clinical Analytics and hospital EHRs. Using Iatric Systems, hospitals have successfully integrated critical care and low-acuity vital sign monitors, ventilators, and other medical devices — now including AWARE™ and Sepsis DART™ — with their hospital EHRs. Iatric Systems has dedicated almost 30 years to helping hospitals maximize their EHR investment.

“There’s a strong synergy between Ambient’s solutions and Iatric Systems integration capabilities, which collaboratively deliver a superior patient and caregiver experience,” said Frank Fortner, Iatric Systems Executive Vice President. “Like Ambient, our solutions are designed and built for the needs of healthcare providers, and together we are now delivering a strong platform that helps improve patient care and outcomes for hospitals and health systems.”

“Partnering with Iatric Systems will allow MEDITECH clients to provide critical workflow efficiencies previously not available to them that result in an environment that optimizes the safety and care of patients, while saving hospitals more money, reducing physician and nurse cognitive load and fatigue”, said Tim Kuebelbeck Chief Customer Officer of Ambient Clinical Analytics. “Published research shows Ambient’s products reduce length of stay, reduce cost of care, and increase efficiencies for the care team."

Ambient’s software uses licensed Mayo Clinic technologies, which include over 1,000 rules and algorithms, to give providers real-time access to vital process-of-care information and analytics. The solutions are designed to deliver data visualization, communication, and analytics based clinical decision support to enhance patient safety, improve care quality, and lower costs. Ambient changes the way acute and critical care providers operate through providing situational awareness of a patient’s total condition through “smart” bedside-based notifications for patient degradation, including sepsis and other clinical conditions.

More than 4.8 million people worldwide and 200,000 people in U.S. hospitals die every year from errors that could have been prevented, with a large percentage of those errors caused by things being missed due to cognitive overload. Medical errors are now the third leading cause of death in the United States, behind only heart disease and cancer, and cost close to $1.44 Trillion in the US alone. The partnership between Ambient Clinical Analytics and Iatric Systems is designed to address these issues.
